Pastor's Perspective -
Joining Our Lives

I can't help but notice that the pace of life is changing. The (comparatively) tranquil months of summer are soon to give way to the quicker pace that comes with the arrival of September. For many churches, ourselves included, September 'reboots' the activities of the church. All of our programs and ministries will soon be up and running at full speed.

That said, I can't help but detect a helpful adjustment of priorities in our congregation. It seems to me that we are becoming more and more aware that everything we do as a congregation is for a purpose: to join our lives to God's love for the world. Everything - from a block party for our community that will commence our fall ministries, to Sunday School classes, to training form ChristCare group leaders, to student ministries, to worship and prayer - everything that we do is to help us as a congregation to more faithfully join our lives to God's love for the world.

May God's grace continue to work in us so that we may abide in God's love an bear the fruit of it in our world!

Block Party Help Spread the Word! Volunteers are needed Monday, August 25th to distribute door hangers to our neighbors with information for our upcoming Block Party. We will meet at His Place @ 6:30 pm and return to His Place by 8:00 pm for ice cream!

Ladies Retreat

Please join us this Thursday, August 21st as we give Chris Sipka a "Have a great time but miss us terribly" party! (Chris will be joining Tim on his sabbatical and will be gone for 3 months). We will meet at the church at 9AM and then head to the beach in Ludington. Please bring a sack lunch for the beach and money for dinner on the way back. If you are unable to make the day at the beach then plan on joining us at 7PM at the home of Connie Bieske for a night of fun and fellowship. Please bring a snack to share and a sleeping bag if you would like to stay overnight for a slumber party. We hope that you are able to find a sitter (for those of you with children) and stay for the evening. For more information and to RSVP please call Connie at 463-6952 or Sue Stack at 833-7186.

From Your Marriage Ministry Team

Your Marriage ministry team is excited about our first date. We will be going to see the movie "Fireproof" at the Midland cinemas on Sunday, September 28, 2008. We will be purchasing tickets in advance, so if you and your spouse would like to join us, please sign up at the welcome center. Childcare will be provided and we are planning to go during the matinee movie and taking the church bus to defer costs. If you have questions please contact Bob & Kendra Beard or phone 463-6602.

Ben Kreider, Youth Pastor

Ben Kreider, our new Youth Pastor, will be moving to Alma this Tuesday, August 19th. We would like to help make Ben's transition as smooth as possible. If you are available and willing to help Ben move into his new home plan on meeting at 4:00 PM (Tuesday, August 19th) at 613 N State Street, Alma.

Childcare Needed

Please help to provide care for either the babies in the nursery or toddlers in the 2's & 3's. One hour, one Sunday a month. You will find out not only will the children be blessed but you will be blessed by the children. Are you ready to be a blessing? If you are please contact Karen Brown or phone 463-6878 The new schedule is being made now and will start in September, so PLEASE call SOON!

Food Pantry

Our food pantry is in need of replenishment. We continue to see a need for this ministry and the pantry needs your help. Please keep in mind that these must be non-perishable items that meals can be made from. Please bring your donations to the church office.
