Funniest and/or fondest childhood memory:
Too many to count. Here's one: Getting chased around my cousins' house while my cousin Jacob was shooting a Roman candle over my head. He claims he was just trying to get "close" without hitting me. And though it's funny now, it wasn't then. I've forgiven him and we shoot fireworks up now.
Funniest and/or fondest adult memory:
Again, too many to count but I would say the some of the funniest was doing Hans and Frans sketches with my twin brother at college. The fondest were all the moments and conversations with friends that have stuck with me and have given me hope or encouragement in tough times.
If you were mayor and could change one thing about Alma:
If I were the mayor, I would change the mayor.
Favorite scripture verse, passage, or book of the Bible:
My favorite book is Ephesians. My favorite passage is Psalm 71:14: "But as for me, I will always have hope. I will praise you more and more."
Main Ministries:
Youth Ministry - Seeing Christ, the hope of glory formed in us, is my greatest purpose and calling.
Testimony:
I grew up in church. I vowed to never be a pastor. God thought that was funny. I was religious, and did all the right things. Then I met Jesus. I didn't know what true relationship looked like and when I was disappointed by life's trials, I hid behind my accomplishments and refused to be weak or vulnerable ever again. Then I met some people along the way who showed me what real love is. They saw me for who I really was (insecure, afraid, ashamed) and didn't run away when they had nothing to gain from me. Instead, they saw my potential and loved me when I offered nothing in return. I always wished I could see God, and now I know I have because I saw Jesus living inside of those people. And because Jesus is still doing that work today, my greatest desire is to tell others that true relationship with God and with one another is possible. I am not perfect, but Jesus is. He is alive and that has and will continue to change everything.
